Dental care without insurance in Houston.
Houston has separate routes for a student assessment, preventive hygiene, and adult dentistry through Harris Health. Choose the visit you need before comparing the amounts.
This is an educational article. Reading it does not start a care request, book an appointment, or save answers. Check the sources below for current information and ask a qualified professional about your situation.
Start with the visit you need
For a routine cleaning, ask about preventive hygiene. For pain, a broken tooth or other treatment, ask whether the office provides that procedure. An initial assessment does not reserve later treatment.
Three options to call
- UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry 713-486-4000. The new-patient assessment starts at approximately $109 for an examination and X-rays. Treatment is separate.
- Lone Star College–Kingwood Dental Hygiene Clinic 281-312-1721. The posted adult fee is $25 for ages 16–59. Confirm the services included in your visit; sealants have a separate fee.
- Harris Health — Acres Home Health Center 713-526-4243. Harris Health requests an $8 dental copayment from eligible financial-assistance patients. This is not a general cash price; dentures use a separate payment scale.

Questions to bring
Use or adapt these words when speaking with a professional:
“I do not have dental insurance. I need [the service]. Are you taking new patients for that? What do the examination, X-rays and treatment each cost? What documents do I need for an income-based fee? When is the next appointment and how long does it take?”
Common questions
Does the listed amount cover all treatment?
It covers only the visit or service stated in the listing: assessment, cleaning, X-rays or a specific procedure. Request an itemized estimate before agreeing to additional treatment. For income-based fees, ask for the amount after the review.
How do I book without insurance?
Call the selected listing, name the service and ask about new-patient intake. Confirm registration, eligibility, documents, visit length and payment. Give documents directly to the clinic; this guide does not collect them.
Do these clinics have appointments available now?
A website check does not confirm an available appointment. Call the clinic for the next intake, waiting list and acceptance requirements. Teaching clinics also check whether your need fits their program.
Keep in mind
- Sources are the cited official clinic, college and public-agency pages. These were web checks, not verification calls.
- Appointment availability and your individual price remain unconfirmed. The clinic determines acceptance and treatment.
- Locations in the same network share some phone numbers and eligibility rules. These are not Kiplet provider partnerships.
Your next step is to confirm a specific visit with the clinic that handles your need.
